The SR-3

OVERVIEW
A major midstream terminal operator had a 150-foot DOT diesel storage tank that the terminal said would require 7 months for a conventional out-of-service inspection. The operator sought to eliminate months of downtime and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cleaning and mobilization costs by utilizing robotic inspection technology.
SOLUTION
Square Robot completed the inspection over 9 days. Due to obstacles surrounding the tank that made a crane lift impractical, the team deployed Square Robot's Incline Lift System — raising the robot to the roof manway without the need for external rigging. The tank's owner was able to continue operating the asset during night time hours throughout the inspection window.
OUTCOME
The robot achieved 86% floor coverage with an inspection interval of 13 years. Using the Incline Lift System saved the client over $30,000 in crane costs alone, while eliminating months of out-of-service time and associated production losses.
